These settings fall into four areas: how search matches and ranks products (Searchable Fields, Search Weights, Typo Tolerance, Prefix Search), what customers can filter and sort by (Facets & Filters, Sort Methods), how the search bar looks (Search Box Placeholder, Desktop Layout, Custom CSS), and which products are eligible to appear (Prefilter Results).
🔎 Searchable Fields
Control which product details customers can search by, and how much priority each one gets.
Available fields: SKU, Product title, Product brand, Category name, Product description, Child SKU, Group key.
Enable or remove any field, and drag to reorder them by importance — only enabled fields are used when matching a customer's search.
Example: If customers often search by SKU, prioritize SKU above product description.
𐄷 Search Weights
Decide which fields matter most when ranking search results.
Each field gets a relevance score from 1 to 10 — higher weight means higher influence on ranking.
Use this to make results follow how your customers actually search, not just what fields happen to match.
Example: Product title → weight 9, Product description → weight 4. A title match now outranks a description-only match.
🖊️ Typo Tolerance
Let Aqurate Search recover from misspelled queries automatically.
Choose a tolerance level, globally or per field:
0 — exact match only
1 — small typos allowed
2 — more forgiving matching
Example: A search for "Nikt" still finds "Nike" products.
⚡️ Prefix Search
Show matches while customers are still typing.
Enable globally or per field to match partial words as prefixes — ideal for autocomplete-style search.
Example: Typing "snea" already returns products containing "sneakers".
☑️ Facets & Filters
Choose which filters customers can use to narrow down results. Default filters: Price, Product brand, Product category.
Enable, remove, or reorder facets — they appear both in autocomplete and on the search results page.
🔝 Sort Methods
Enable, remove, rename, or reorder sort options (e.g. Relevance, Popularity, Newest, Price ascending/descending) to match your store's tone of voice.
💡Tip: you can also pin a specific sorting method to use as default order until the user starts typing
💬 Search Box Placeholder
Guide customers before they even start typing.
Replace the generic placeholder with something specific, like "Search by brand, category, or SKU".
🖥️ Desktop & mobile layout
Choose how the search page looks on desktop & mobile.
Full-screen — opens as a full overlay
Compact, centered — a smaller centered search box
Compact, below shop logo — sits inline near your logo
⚙️ Prefilter Results
Show only in-stock products — hides out-of-stock items.
💡You could also choose to display out of stock products, but to have them visible at the bottom part of the search results.
Show only active products — hides items marked inactive or disabled in your catalog.
Toggle either one on or off at any time.
Zero Price Products — show them last, or hide them completely.
Prices Include VAT — match how prices are shown everywhere else on your store, so search doesn't look inconsistent.
🎨 Custom CSS
Style the search widget! Every selector you add is automatically scoped to the search widget only — it can't affect the rest of your site.
Saved separately, via its own Save CSS button.
